Overview: As Head Brewer you are responsible for all aspects of the department activity, inventory and cycle counts of all brewing components; developing and training staff to fill back end brewing requirements; co-ordinate with QA to achieve quality objectives; reconciliation and administration of brewing inventories in JDE.

The primary purpose of this job is to manufacture beer wort using traditional and new world brewing techniques to meet production scheduling while ensuring that the quality of the product is maintained such that the Brewhouse brand remains as an industry leader. Secondly, another important purpose of this job is to support R&D in developing new beer products by providing support from a technical aspect to meet a taste profile.

Responsibilities:
  •  Assures compliance of all brewing activities to company policy and government regulations for health and safety
  • Ensures the product quality parameters are met at all times in the brewing processes
  • Coordinates with other departments to efficiently deliver product to the production department for packaging
  • Communicates with the planning team on potential brewing constraints to assist in organizing the short-term package schedule
  • Uses accounting inventory principle (FIFO) for proper raw material rotation to ensure that aged material is not used inappropriately
  • Identifies, develops and implements systems to improve inventory control in raw materials
  • Participates in inventory physical counts
  • Assures compliance with all departmental CIP and SOP policies and procedures
  • Communicates and coordinates maintenance and equipment issues with the Operations Supervisor
  • Records and reports brew house efficiency measures as determined regionally and corporately
  • Identifies, develops and communicates systems to improve brewing efficiencies
Requirements:
  • Beer Brewing – Certified in brewing and beer packaging by the Brewers Guild of London
  • 5 years experience in “high specific gravity” brewing
  • Batch process management
  • Plant, process and material safety
  • Computer operations
  • Food mfg GMPs
  • Recipe design
  • Inventory controls
